1997-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 1997 Brilliant Unc

The 1997 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Denver Mint, stands as a notable example of modern American coinage. This fifty-cent piece features a composition consisting of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to an inner core of pure copper. The physical design showcases the distinct mint mark letter D, identifying its origin from the Denver facility during the 1997 production run. On the obverse, the coin displays a detailed profile bust of President John F. Kennedy, originally created by designer Gilroy Roberts. The inscription IN GOD WE TRUST is clearly visible beneath the portrait. The reverse side, designed by Frank Gasparro, presents a formal heraldic eagle clutching a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The inscriptions on the reverse include the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM alongside the denomination of HALF DOLLAR.
