The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a narrative of family and strength. A male bald eagle is captured mid-flight, clutching an olive branch as he returns to a nest containing a female eagle and their young. This side of the coin also displays the traditional national mottos, IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the country of origin and the weight and denomination inscriptions.
