Struck at the West Point facility in New York, this impressive piece contains one troy ounce of pure gold content within its overall composition. It represents a harmonious blend of historic and modern American coin design, rendered in brilliant uncirculated condition. On the obverse, the coin displays a celebrated figure of Lady Liberty, an illustration adapted from the legendary early twentieth-century work of Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Her hair billows in the wind as she strides forward, holding a lit torch aloft in her right hand to light the way, while her left hand clasps an olive branch. The year 1998 is clearly legible alongside this powerful symbol of freedom. The reverse side features a detailed family scene created by Miley Busiek. A male bald eagle is depicted mid-flight, clutching an olive branch as he returns to his nest. Waiting below are a female eagle and their young, nestled together. This side also displays the traditional national mottos, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside inscriptions indicating the weight of one ounce of fine gold and the face value of fifty dollars.
