1998 American Silver Eagle MS-69 NGC
The 1998 American Silver Eagle represents the thirteenth year of the United States Mint's premier silver bullion initiative, which began in 1986 and continued through 2021. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this dollar coin showcases two iconic American designs that celebrate the nation's artistic and symbolic heritage. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty strides forward, enveloped in the folds of the American flag. This graceful image is adapted from the historic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. The front of the coin also features the legible inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 1998. The reverse side, created by John Mercanti, displays a powerful heraldic eagle reminiscent of the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle holds a banner inscribed with E PLURIBUS UNUM, grasping an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other. Above the eagle, thirteen small stars are arranged to symbolize the original American colonies. Surrounding this central design are the clear inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA along with the weight and denomination, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR.
