On the front of the coin, the design presents a powerful depiction of Lady Liberty. She stands tall, holding a torch to light the way forward and an olive branch representing peace. This classic imagery, originally created for the early twentieth-century double eagle, is paired with the year 1998 and the word LIBERTY. The reverse side displays a family of eagles, a concept created by Miley Busiek. A male eagle is captured in mid-flight above a nest, carrying an olive branch to his mate and their young offspring. Inscriptions on this side include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the face value of 25 DOLLARS, alongside the weight designation of 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD.
