1999-P Connecticut State Quarter BU
In 1999, the United States Mint embarked on a historic journey to honor each of the fifty states, releasing the Connecticut quarter as the fifth entry in this celebrated series. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this particular coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showcasing its original luster and crisp details. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper. The obverse features the classic profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Alongside the portrait of the first president, the inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR". The small "P" mint mark indicates its origin in Philadelphia. On the reverse, designer T. James Ferrell depicts the legendary Charter Oak tree. This historic tree is famous for serving as the hiding place for the original constitution of Connecticut, safeguarding the colony's self-governance. The reverse is inscribed with "CONNECTICUT", "1788", "THE CHARTER OAK", the year of issue "1999", and the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
