The 1999-P Susan B. Anthony dollar represents a distinctive moment in modern United States coinage. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this small-sized dollar coin is presented in a stunning Gem Proof finish, highlighting the sharp contrast and mirror-like surfaces characteristic of the proof minting process. Designed by Frank Gasparro, the obverse features a portrait of the pioneering social reformer Susan B. Anthony. The inscriptions "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date "1999" flank her likeness, accompanied by the "P" mint mark denoting its Philadelphia origin. The reverse of the coin carries a powerful symbolic design adapted from the Apollo 11 insignia, which was originally used on the larger Eisenhower dollar. It depicts an eagle clutching an olive branch as it descends toward the surface of the moon, with the Earth visible in the background.
