1999-W 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PR-69 DCAM PCGS

0.1000 troy oz .9167 1999 PCGS

In 1999, the West Point Mint struck a limited run of 48,428 tenth-ounce gold proof coins, each containing exactly 0.1000 troy ounces of gold. This particular specimen has earned a certified grade of Proof 69 Deep Cameo, indicating an almost flawless strike with intense contrast between the frosted design elements and the highly reflective, mirror-like fields. The obverse of this five-dollar coin presents a classic American image adapted from the early twentieth-century gold double eagle. It depicts Lady Liberty stepping forward against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. On the reverse, a detailed scene created by artist Miley Busiek depicts a male bald eagle returning to his nest with an olive branch in his talons, where a female eagle and their young await him. This official United States Mint issue carries the 'W' mint mark, denoting its origin from the West Point facility.
