$2.50 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle (Cleaned)

0.1209 troy oz .900 Genuine

The United States Quarter Eagle represents a long-running chapter in American gold coinage, with this specific design minted continuously from 1840 to 1907. Struck at various federal mint facilities including Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, New Orleans, and San Francisco, each piece contains 0.12094 troy ounces of gold with a purity of 0.900. These specific examples are certified in genuine condition, though they may show signs of past cleaning or prior use in jewelry. Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the obverse of the coin presents a left-facing portrait of Liberty. She wears a hair band clearly inscribed with her name, while thirteen stars encircle the portrait to represent the original colonies. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle stands with a protective shield across its chest. The eagle is surrounded by the legend United States of America and the abbreviated denomination, 2 1/2 D.
