Struck by the United States Mint, the twenty-dollar gold piece known as the Liberty Double Eagle represents a significant era in American numismatic history. Each of these pre-1933 coins contains 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, minted with a purity of 0.900. These specimens survive today in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of their original manufacture. The obverse of the coin presents a profile of Lady Liberty. Her hair is bound by a band clearly inscribed with the word "Liberty," and she is encircled by thirteen stars representing the original colonies. On the reverse, a detailed heraldic eagle stands with a protective shield draped across its breast. The eagle is surrounded by the country of origin, "United States of America," alongside the face value of the denomination, twenty dollars.
