0.9675 troy oz .900 MS-65 (PCGS)

Struck by the United States Mint during an era spanning from 1850 to 1907, the Liberty Head Double Eagle represents a classic chapter in American coinage. This substantial coin contains 0.9675 troy ounces of gold, minted with a purity of 0.900. These specimens were produced at various historic mint facilities, including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Carson City, New Orleans, and Denver. This particular example has been certified in a high-grade preservation level of Mint State 65 (MS-65). The obverse features a profile of Liberty, her hair secured by a diadem decorated with pearls and inscribed with her name. On the reverse, artist James B. Longacre depicted a majestic eagle with its wings fully extended, bearing a protective shield upon its chest. Above the eagle, thirteen stars are arranged in an oval pattern beneath a halo of light rays. The reverse is also inscribed with the issuing nation, United States of America, and the face value of Twenty Dollars.
