The year 2000 marked the fifteenth annual release of the United States Mint's premier silver bullion initiative. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, this modern dollar coin represents a long-standing tradition of American coinage, backed fully by the United States government for its weight and purity. On the obverse, a classic depiction of Lady Liberty unfolds. She is shown draped in the folds of the American flag, moving gracefully toward a rising sun as it emerges over a mountain ridge. This side bears the legible inscriptions of LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the year 2000. The reverse features a detailed heraldic eagle positioned beneath a cluster of thirteen small stars. Surrounding this central motif are the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination and weight, shown as 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR. This particular specimen has been certified in Mint State 69, indicating an exceptionally well-preserved coin with nearly imperceptible imperfections.
