2000-D Maryland State Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 2000 Brilliant Unc

In 2000, the Denver Mint struck a distinctive twenty-five cent piece celebrating Maryland as part of the landmark 50 State Quarters Program. This particular coin, preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, represents the seventh design released in the multi-year initiative. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper, giving it a bright, clean appearance that highlights the intricate details of its dual-sided artwork. The obverse features the familiar profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Alongside the portrait, the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "QUARTER DOLLAR" are clearly legible, accompanied by the "D" mint mark representing the Denver facility. On the reverse, designed by Thomas D. Rogers, the majestic dome of the Maryland Statehouse takes center stage. This historic building is framed by clusters of white oak leaves, a nod to the natural heritage of the state. The reverse also bears the inscriptions "MARYLAND," the year "1788" to mark its entry into the Union, the state's nickname "THE OLD LINE STATE," and the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" alongside the year of minting, "2000."
