2000-D Massachusetts State Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 2000 Brilliant Unc

In the year 2000, the United States Mint continued its celebrated fifty-state commemorative program with this Denver-minted quarter, marking the sixth overall release in the series. Struck with a brilliant uncirculated finish, the coin features a copper-nickel outer layer bonded to an inner core of pure copper. The front of the coin displays a familiar profile of George Washington, a classic design originally created by John Flanagan. Alongside the portrait, the traditional inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST" are accompanied by the "D" mint mark, indicating its origin at the Denver Mint. On the reverse side, designer Thomas D. Rogers captured the spirit of the state with a depiction of the historic Minuteman from the American Revolutionary War. This iconic figure stands proudly against a background outline of Massachusetts. The design is framed by the state's nickname, "THE BAY STATE," as well as the national motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the year of issue.
