2000-P Kennedy Half Dollar BU

0.0000 troy oz 2000 Brilliant Unc

The year 2000 marked a milestone entry into a new millennium for the United States Mint, which continued its long-running tribute to President John F. Kennedy with this fifty-cent piece. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin displays the letter P as its mint mark on the obverse side, nestled just above the date. The coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper, a standard metallic composition for modern circulating coinage. On the obverse, the profile of John F. Kennedy looks toward the left, a design created by Gilroy Roberts. This side also bears the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse side features the work of Frank Gasparro, depicting a detailed heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The Latin phrase E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed above, surrounded by the country name and the face value of HALF DOLLAR.
