2000-P Maryland State Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 2000 Brilliant Unc

In the year 2000, the United States Mint continued its celebrated fifty-state circulating program with the introduction of the Maryland quarter. This particular coin, struck at the Philadelphia Mint as indicated by the P mint mark, represents the seventh design issued in the historic series. It is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, showing off the crisp details of its dual-sided artistry. The obverse features the familiar profile of George Washington, originally modeled by John Flanagan and later modified by William Cousins. Surrounding the first president's portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR. On the reverse, designed by Thomas D. Rogers, the majestic dome of the Maryland Statehouse rises as the central focal point. This architectural landmark is framed by decorative clusters of white oak leaves. The reverse inscriptions include the state name, MARYLAND, the year of its entry into the Union, 1788, the state nickname, THE OLD LINE STATE, and the national motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the year of coinage, 2000. This coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper.
