2000-S Kennedy Half Dollar Gem Proof
The year 2000 marked another chapter for a classic American coin series. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this half dollar is a clad proof specimen crafted with an outer layer of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper. The proof finish highlights the contrasting details of the coin, bringing its classic artwork into sharp focus. On the obverse, a portrait of President John F. Kennedy looks toward the left. This depiction of the president was designed by Gilroy Roberts and is accompanied by the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" split across the lower half of the portrait, with the mint mark "S" and the date positioned below. The reverse side displays a heraldic eagle designed by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other, representing both strength and peace. The traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is featured alongside the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the face value of "HALF DOLLAR."
