In 2001, the United States Mint released a special commemorative silver dollar that pays tribute to one of the most celebrated coin designs in American history. This particular example is certified in an exceptional Mint State 69 condition, showcasing the crispness of its details and the preservation of its original luster. The imagery on this coin is directly inspired by the classic Buffalo nickel, a circulating five-cent piece that was originally minted from 1913 to 1938. The obverse side presents a powerful composite portrait of three different Native American chiefs, accompanied by the inscription of the word LIBERTY and the 2001 year of issue. On the reverse, a majestic American bison stands in profile, evoking the spirit of the American West. The inscriptions on this side include the traditional mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the face value of ONE DOLLAR.
