The 2001 Kennedy half dollar from the Denver Mint stands as a compelling example of modern American coinage. Struck with a brilliant uncirculated finish, this fifty-cent piece features a multi-layered composition consisting of a nickel and copper outer blend bonded securely to a center of pure copper. On the obverse, a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy dominates the design. This detailed bust, created by Gilroy Roberts, is accompanied by the inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" split across the lower field, with the year 2001 positioned at the bottom. The Denver origin is indicated by the distinct "D" mint mark placed just above the date. The reverse side displays a powerful heraldic eagle designed by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds both a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing strength and peace.
