The 2001 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, represents a continuing tradition in modern United States coinage. This particular coin is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, allowing observers to appreciate the sharp details of its design just as they appeared when it first left the coining press. Structurally, the coin is composed of an outer layer of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a powerful portrait created by sculptor Gilroy Roberts. The design is accompanied by the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST split across the lower field, along with the mint mark P representing the Philadelphia facility, and the date 2001. The reverse side features the classic heraldic eagle design by Frank Gasparro. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace.
