2002 1/2 oz American Platinum Eagle MS-70 NGC

0.5000 troy oz .9995 2002 NGC

Introduced by the United States Mint in 1997, the American Platinum Eagle series showcases modern American coinage artistry on a canvas of precious metal. This 2002 issue contains one half ounce of 0.9995 fine platinum, representing a high standard of purity backed by the United States government, which guarantees its weight, content, and fifty dollar face value. The obverse of the coin features a close-up depiction of the Statue of Liberty, gazing forward as a symbol of freedom. This side bears the year 2002 alongside the traditional mottos "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM". On the reverse, a magnificent American eagle is captured mid-flight, soaring gracefully across the sky in front of a brilliant sunrise. Accompanying this powerful image are inscriptions detailing the nation of issue, "United States of America", along with the coin's weight, its 0.9995 platinum purity, and the official 50 dollar denomination.
