2002-D Kennedy Half Dollar BU
The 2002 Kennedy half dollar, struck at the Denver Mint, represents a modern continuation of one of America's most recognizable coin series. This particular specimen is preserved in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, meaning it retains the sharp details and original luster it had when it first left the coining press. The composition of this issue consists of an outer layer of copper and nickel bonded securely to a core of pure copper. On the obverse, the coin displays a left-facing portrait of President John F. Kennedy, designed by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned below the bust, while the mint mark "D" is clearly visible above the date of 2002, indicating its origin at the Denver facility. The reverse side, designed by Frank Gasparro, features the majestic heraldic eagle. The eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. Surrounding this central image are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR", along with the traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
