In 2002, the United States Mint continued its popular circulating commemorative program with a tribute to Indiana. This brilliant uncirculated twenty-five cent piece, minted at the Philadelphia facility, showcases a design that merges the state's geographic identity with its famous sporting heritage. The obverse displays the familiar profile of George Washington, a classic portrait originally created by John Flanagan and modified by William Cousins. This side includes the essential national inscriptions, such as the phrase declaring trust in God, the word liberty, and the prominent Philadelphia mint mark, a small letter P. On the reverse, the coin features the theme Crossroads of America.
