2002-W 1/4 oz Proof American Gold Eagle PR-69 PCGS
The year 2002 brought another beautiful rendition of the quarter-ounce gold proof coin from the United States Mint, struck at the West Point facility. Bearing a face value of ten dollars, this modern treasure is composed of 0.9167 fine gold. It showcases a brilliant proof finish, highlighting the meticulous details of its iconic designs. On the obverse, the figure of Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, bathed in the rays of a rising sun. This design is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century work by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, accompanied by the year 2002 and the West Point 'W' mint mark. The reverse features a powerful family scene of bald eagles. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and her young wait. This side of the coin displays the national mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD 10 DOLLARS.
