Struck at the West Point Mint in New York, this ten-dollar modern gold coin contains a quarter ounce of precious metal. Its highly polished, reflective surfaces showcase a pair of celebrated American designs, rendered with the exceptional clarity characteristic of the proof minting process. The front of the coin displays a classic depiction of Lady Liberty, who stands holding a lit torch and an olive branch. This iconic image is a direct adaptation of the famous design originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens for the early twentieth-century double eagle. On the reverse, a family of eagles is depicted in detail. A male eagle is shown in mid-flight carrying an branch, hovering just above a nest where a female eagle tends to her young.
