2003 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle MS-69 PCGS

0.2500 troy oz .9167 2003 PCGS

The 2003 quarter-ounce Gold American Eagle stands as a remarkable example of modern United States coinage, carrying a face value of ten dollars and containing exactly 0.2500 troy ounces of pure gold content. This issue showcases two of the most celebrated designs in American numismatic history, rendered in a smaller, highly detailed format. On the obverse, the coin displays a classic depiction of Lady Liberty. Originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this design shows Liberty stride forward confidently, bathed in the radiant rays of a rising sun. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, and the year 2003 is clearly marked on the right side of the field. The reverse features a family of bald eagles, a detailed design by Miley Busiek. A male eagle is depicted in flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young await. This scene is accompanied by the traditional American mottos IN GOD WE TRUST and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the country of origin and the coin's weight and face value.
