2003-W Gold $10 Commem First Flight Centennial MS-69 NGC

0.4838 troy oz .900 2003 NGC

In 2003, the United States Mint released a ten dollar gold coin to mark exactly one hundred years since humanity first achieved powered flight. This modern commemorative piece contains 0.4838 troy ounces of pure gold, honoring one of the most significant technological milestones in human history. The front of the coin displays the forward-facing, overlapping portraits of the pioneering brothers, Orville and Wilbur Wright. Surrounding their likenesses are the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the dual dates of 1903 and 2003, which frame the century of aviation progress. On the reverse side, the design captures a dramatic aerial perspective. It depicts the famous 1903 Wright Flyer soaring above the sand dunes of North Carolina, accompanied by an American bald eagle gliding in the same airspace. This side bears the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the face value of TEN DOLLARS.
