Minted in Philadelphia, this coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of silver and was produced with a total mintage of 142,015 pieces. The front of the coin captures the two explorers standing alongside a flowing river, with detailed wilderness foliage rising in the background. This design evokes the vast, unexplored landscapes the expedition party encountered during their multi-year trek. The reverse side of the coin features a faithful recreation of the Jefferson Indian peace medal.
