2004-P Texas State Quarter BU
In 2004, the United States Mint celebrated the state of Texas with a dedicated quarter design, minted in Philadelphia. This particular coin survives in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the sharp details of its copper and nickel composition, which is bonded to a core of pure copper. The obverse side displays the classic left-facing portrait of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Alongside the presidential profile, the inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and QUARTER DOLLAR, accompanied by the P mint mark indicating its origin in Philadelphia. On the reverse, designed by Norman Nemeth, the coin honors the Lone Star State with a bold outline of the Texas state map. A prominent single star is superimposed over the state shape, symbolizing its famous nickname. The reverse is inscribed with TEXAS, the statehood year of 1845, the nickname The Lone Star State, the year of issue 2004, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM.
