The 2005 half-ounce Gold American Eagle stands as a stunning example of modern United States coinage, combining historic artistry with contemporary minting excellence. Struck at the West Point Mint, this twenty-five dollar denomination coin contains exactly one-half troy ounce of pure gold content, presented in brilliant uncirculated condition. On the obverse, the design draws inspiration from the legendary gold double eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted in a powerful forward stride, holding a flaming torch in one hand to represent enlightenment and an olive branch in the other as a symbol of peace. Behind her, the warm rays of a rising sun illuminate the horizon, creating a sense of hope and progress. The reverse, designed by Miley Busiek, presents a touching and symbolic scene of American wildlife. A male bald eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest.
