2005 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle MS-69 PCGS (FirstStrike®)
The 2005 half-ounce American Gold Eagle represents a striking combination of classic and modern American numismatic art. Struck from a gold composition of 0.9167 purity, this twenty-five dollar coin contains exactly one-half ounce of actual gold weight, with its weight and purity fully guaranteed by the United States Mint. On the obverse, the coin displays a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty walking forward, bathed in the rays of the sun. This iconic image is adapted from the famous early twentieth-century Gold Double Eagle design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The design is accompanied by the year of issue, 2005. The reverse side offers a contrasting modern scene designed by Miley Busiek. It depicts a male bald eagle soaring through the air, carrying an olive branch back to a nest that holds a female eagle and her young. This side also features the traditional national mottos, including "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM," alongside the face value of 25 dollars.
