This 2005 twenty-five dollar gold coin represents a beautiful fusion of historical and modern American coin design. The front of the coin showcases a legendary design adapted from the historic Gold Double Eagle by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Lady Liberty is depicted in a powerful forward stride, holding a lit torch to light the way and an olive branch as a symbol of peace. The word LIBERTY is inscribed above her, accompanied by the year 2005. On the reverse, a detailed family scene designed by Miley Busiek unfolds. A male eagle is captured mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and their young eaglets wait.
