The 2005 American Gold Eagle represents a modern continuation of classic United States numismatic design. Struck in a half-ounce format, this twenty-five dollar coin contains 0.5000 troy ounces of gold with a purity of 0.9167. This specific issue has achieved the highest possible grade of Mint State 70, indicating a coin with no visible imperfections even under close inspection. The United States Mint produced a total of 80,023 of these half-ounce gold pieces during the 2005 production run. On the obverse, the coin displays a celebrated depiction of Lady Liberty walking forward, illuminated by the rays of a rising sun. This design is an adaptation of the historic Gold Double Eagle created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The inscription of the year 2005 is clearly visible alongside the word LIBERTY. The reverse of the coin shifts focus to a family of bald eagles, symbolizing American strength and unity. A male eagle is depicted in mid-flight, carrying an olive branch back to a nest where a female eagle and her young wait.
