On the front of the coin, Lady Liberty is depicted in stride, moving forward against a backdrop of radiating sunbeams. This iconic image is a modern adaptation of the famous early twentieth-century design by sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Legible inscriptions on this side include the word LIBERTY and the year 2005. The reverse side features a scene created by Miley Busiek, depicting a male bald eagle in flight as it delivers an olive branch to its mate and offspring waiting in their nest.
