2005-D Kansas State Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 2005 Brilliant Unc

In 2005, the United States Mint continued its celebrated State Quarter series with a tribute to Kansas. Struck at the Denver Mint, this particular coin features a brilliant uncirculated finish, showcasing the crisp details of its design just as they appeared when it first left the coining press. The obverse side displays the familiar profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan. Alongside the portrait, the traditional inscriptions of LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST are accompanied by the D mint mark, indicating its origin in Denver. On the reverse, designed by Norman Nemeth, the coin honors the natural heritage of Kansas. A majestic American buffalo stands alongside a blooming sunflower, representing the state's iconic prairie landscape. This side also bears the statehood year of 1861, the year of release in 2005, and the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Structurally, the coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper.
