The 2005 Kennedy half dollar struck at the Denver Mint offers a brilliant, uncirculated look at one of America's most enduring modern coin designs. This particular issue showcases the sharp details of a design first introduced in the mid twentieth century, preserved in exceptional condition without the wear of everyday circulation. On the obverse, the profile of President John F. Kennedy faces left, a work designed by Gilroy Roberts. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRUST" spans across the lower portion of the portrait, while the Denver "D" mint mark and the 2005 year of issue are positioned below. This side is framed by the word "LIBERTY" arching along the upper rim. The reverse side features the detailed heraldic eagle design by Frank Gasparro. Based on the Presidential Seal, the eagle holds a bundle of arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other, symbolizing both strength and peace. The traditional motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM" is displayed on a scroll above the eagle, surrounded by the country name and the face value of "HALF DOLLAR." Though these fifty-cent pieces are composed of a copper and nickel blend bonded to a pure copper core, their brilliant uncirculated state ensures that the fine lines of both Roberts' and Gasparro's engravings remain crisp and visually striking.
