This brilliant uncirculated silver dollar, minted in Philadelphia in 2005, pays tribute to the United States Marine Corps on its 230th anniversary. The coin also marks six decades since the historic flag raising on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima. Struck in 90 percent silver, this official United States legal tender coin contains 0.7734 troy ounces of precious metal. The front of the coin features a detailed engraving based on Joe Rosenthal's famous photograph of the flag raising on Iwo Jima, a powerful symbol of determination and teamwork. The reverse side features the traditional Marine Corps insignia, showcasing the eagle, globe, and anchor. Inscriptions on the coin include the Marine motto Semper Fidelis, alongside the dual commemorative dates of 1775 and 2005.
