Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. The proof finish highlights the sharp contrasts and mirror-like surfaces of this modern coinage masterpiece. The obverse displays the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, originally created by John Flanagan and later modified by William Cousins. Surrounding the first president's profile are the inscriptions denoting the nation's name, the denomination of a quarter dollar, and the traditional mottos of liberty and faith.
