2005-S Silver Roosevelt Dime Gem Proof
2005-S Silver Roosevelt Dime Gem Proof
In 2005, the San Francisco Mint produced a stunning rendition of the classic American dime, struck in a traditional 90 percent silver composition. Containing 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal, this ten-cent piece is a beautiful example of modern proof minting, displaying sharp contrasts and mirror-like surfaces that bring its classic mid-century design to life. The obverse of the coin features the familiar left-facing profile of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Surrounding his portrait are the inscriptions LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 2005 year of issue and the prominent S mint mark, indicating its origin at the San Francisco facility. The designer's initials, JS, are also visible near the base of the neck. On the reverse, the coin displays a symbolic trio: a central torch representing liberty, flanked by an olive branch symbolizing peace and an oak branch representing strength and independence. The legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME frame the design, while the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is woven throughout the background elements.
