2005-W 1/10 oz Proof American Platinum Eagle (w/Box & COA)
The 2005 tenth-ounce platinum proof coin is a remarkable example of modern American coinage, struck at the West Point Mint and bearing the 'W' mint mark. This piece contains one-tenth of an ounce of highly refined 0.9995 platinum, representing a standard of purity and quality backed by the United States government. On the obverse, the coin displays a close-up depiction of the Statue of Liberty, looking forward with resolve. This side also bears the year 2005 alongside the classic national mottos 'In God We Trust' and 'E Pluribus Unum'. The reverse side, created by Donna Weaver, presents a detailed scene of an eagle carrying a shield. In its grasp, the eagle holds an olive branch, set against a backdrop of thirteen stars and an overflowing cornucopia. The inscriptions on this side denote the face value of ten dollars, the metal weight, and the high purity of the platinum.
