Introduced in 2006, this one dollar coin represents the twentieth annual release in a celebrated silver bullion program that originally commenced in 1986. Struck from one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver, the coin is backed by the United States Mint, offering a standard of purity and weight that has made the series a cornerstone of modern coinage. The obverse side displays a classic depiction of Lady Liberty, a design originally created by Adolph A. Weinman. Based on the historic Walking Liberty motif, it shows Liberty draped in the American flag as she moves gracefully toward the dawn. This side features the legible inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST and the year 2006. On the reverse, John Mercanti designed a powerful heraldic eagle that draws inspiration from the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle holds an olive branch and arrows, with a cluster of thirteen small stars positioned above its head to represent the initial colonies of the nation. Legible inscriptions on this face include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination 1 OZ. FINE SILVER ONE DOLLAR.
