The 2006 Nevada quarter brings the untamed beauty of the Great Basin to life. Struck at the Denver Mint, this modern twenty-five cent coin features a composition of copper and nickel bonded to a core of pure copper. The reverse design, created by William Cousins and Don Everhart, celebrates the rugged identity of the Silver State with a dynamic scene. Three wild stallions gallop across the landscape, framed by a rising sun and snow-draped mountain peaks, representing the freedom and vast open spaces of the region. On the obverse, the classic profile of George Washington faces left, a design originally created by John Flanagan.
