The 2006 Mexican Silver Libertad is a remarkable example of modern coinage, struck in one troy ounce of 0.999 fine silver. Produced at the historic Casa de Moneda de Mexico, this issue had a limited mintage of 300,000 pieces. Each coin's weight and purity are fully backed by the Banco de Mexico, offering a high degree of assurance in its precious metal content. On the obverse, a highly detailed sculptural relief displays the modern Mexican National Shield, encircled by the inscription "Estados Unidos Mexicanos". This central image is surrounded by ten historical variations of the national coat of arms, tracing the country's symbolic evolution through different eras. The reverse side presents a dramatic landscape featuring the Winged Victory statue standing prominently in the foreground. Behind her, the legendary Mexican volcanic peaks of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl rise into the background. Legible inscriptions on this side include "1 ONZA", "PLATA PURA", "2006", and "LEY 0.999", alongside the distinctive "Mo" mint mark of the Mexico City Mint.
