In 2006, the United States Mint celebrated Nebraska with a dedicated quarter design struck at the Philadelphia facility. This coin, preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, features a composition of copper and nickel bonded to a pure copper core. The obverse displays the familiar profile of George Washington, originally designed by John Flanagan and modified by William Cousins, surrounded by the inscriptions of liberty and the nation's name. On the reverse side, designed by Richard Masters, the coin captures the spirit of westward expansion. A pioneer family guides an ox-drawn wagon across the landscape, with the towering natural landmark of Chimney Rock rising in the background. The design also displays the state's name, the year 1867 to mark Nebraska's statehood, and the national motto, E Pluribus Unum, alongside the 2006 release year.
