2006-P North Dakota State Quarter BU
In 2006, the United States Mint celebrated North Dakota with a dedicated quarter design that captures the rugged spirit of the American West. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this coin features a composition of copper and nickel bonded to a pure copper core. It remains in brilliant uncirculated condition, preserving the crisp details of its artistry just as it was when it left the coining press. The reverse side of the coin presents a scenic view of the state's iconic badlands. Designed by Stephen Clark, the imagery showcases dramatic buttes and deep canyons under a setting sun, while a pair of American bison graze peacefully in the foreground. The inscription "NORTH DAKOTA" and the year of its statehood, "1889," are proudly displayed at the top, while the year of issue, "2006," and the national motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," anchor the bottom of the design. On the obverse, the familiar profile of George Washington graces the center, a classic depiction originally created by John Flanagan. Surrounding the first president's portrait are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR." The small "P" mint mark is also visible, indicating its origin from the historic Philadelphia facility.
