2006-P South Dakota State Quarter BU

0.0000 troy oz 2006 Brilliant Unc

In 2006, the United States Mint celebrated South Dakota with a special entry in the popular State Quarters series. This particular coin, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, displays a brilliant uncirculated finish that highlights the detailed artistry of both its obverse and reverse sides. The front of the quarter features the classic profile of George Washington, a design originally created by John Flanagan and later modified by William Cousins. Legible inscriptions on this side include the words LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the denomination of QUARTER DOLLAR and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA country name. On the reverse, designed by Michael Leidel, a Chinese ring-necked pheasant flies gracefully in the sky above the iconic Mount Rushmore National Memorial. This side is inscribed with the state name, SOUTH DAKOTA, the year of its statehood, 1889, the release year of 2006, and the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Structurally, the coin is composed of a copper and nickel outer layer bonded to a core of pure copper.
