In 2006, the United States Mint celebrated Nevada with a specially crafted silver quarter, struck at the San Francisco Mint. This particular coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. Rendered in a brilliant proof finish, the coin showcases sharp details and mirrored fields that bring its distinct regional imagery to life. The reverse side honors the nickname of Nevada, displaying the words "THE SILVER STATE" alongside its admission year of 1864. The central design features three wild stallions running freely in front of a majestic, snow-covered mountain range. This reverse artwork was created by Don Everhart, capturing the rugged, untamed spirit of the Western landscape. On the obverse, the familiar profile of George Washington faces left, a classic portrait originally sculpted by John Flanagan and later modified by William Cousins. Surrounding the president's likeness are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR." The small "S" mint mark is also visible, signifying its origin from the San Francisco facility.
