In 2006, the United States Mint celebrated Nevada with a special entry in the popular State Quarter series. This particular coin is a Gem Proof specimen struck at the San Francisco Mint, displaying the sharp details and mirror-like finishes characteristic of this high-quality minting process. The reverse side of the coin honors the rugged landscape of Nevada, famously known as the Silver State. The design showcases three wild stallions running free, set against a dramatic backdrop of sunbeams and snow-capped mountain peaks. Above this scene, the state name and the year of its admission to the Union, 1864, are inscribed, while the motto "THE SILVER STATE" rests below. The year of issue, 2006, and the traditional phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" are also clearly visible. On the obverse, the familiar profile of George Washington is presented in crisp detail.
