2006-W 1/10 oz Burnished American Gold Eagle (w/Box & COA)
In 2006, the United States Mint introduced a distinctive burnished finish to its American Eagle gold series. Produced at the West Point Mint, this five-dollar denomination coin contains one tenth of an ounce of pure gold, blending a classic artistic legacy with modern minting techniques. The burnished appearance offers a soft, matte-like texture that sets it apart from standard bullion and proof issues of the same year. The obverse features a legendary depiction of Lady Liberty, adapted from the famous early twentieth-century design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the reverse, artist Miley Busiek captures a warm scene of a bald eagle family, showing a male eagle returning to the nest where a female and their hatchlings wait. This detailed reverse design is accompanied by the traditional inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM, alongside the coin's face value and gold weight.
