2006-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle SP/MS-69 PCGS (FirstStrike®)
In 2006, the West Point Mint produced a special burnished version of its iconic fifty dollar gold coin. Struck on specially prepared blanks, this piece contains one full ounce of gold. It has been certified in an exceptional Mint State 69 condition, indicating its superb preservation and sharp details. The obverse of this coin showcases a legendary American design. Lady Liberty is depicted walking forward, bathed in the rays of a rising sun. This classic image was adapted from the famous early twentieth-century gold double eagle designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. On the reverse, a detailed scene designed by Miley Busiek captures a family of bald eagles. A male eagle carrying an olive branch flies toward a nest containing a female eagle and her young. This side also displays traditional American mottos, including "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST", alongside the denomination and metal content. This beautiful modern coin represents a high standard of craftsmanship backed by the United States Mint.
